| The board walk looks good but the dirt road is easier. | Following the track until the wall | The rocks are flat and make entry easy here where the wall and rocks meet. Keep gear in one hand so other is free to balance you | The water is not always calm and a little wave can make entry difficult. |
Schnapper
Point can be dived from 3 different entry points. Probably the best entry and
easiest is from Pic 3, where the rocks meet the wall. (A more detailed map in
shop)
On a calm day entry is easy, find a big rock and pop your fins on and snorkel
out to deeper water and swim north or south along the reef. It is
easy to navigate as your can keep the reef on your left or right depending on
the direction you swim. Rarely are their currents but occasionally you can
feel a little resistance. If you swim north you will find a bommie and
scallop dredge buckets. You can even follow the reef around to the point, to the
pier. This is a very busy area in Summer month and a dive flag is
essential, at all times, to let boating traffic know you are in the area.
Always surface with caution and listen carefully for boats or jet skies. You may
have to watch for fishing line as you come around the point. Check the
site carefully before diving. Remember club dives are a good way of having
more experienced divers orientate you to new sites.
